Album update # 5 – Audio Editing

by Reggie Barnes on September 28, 2010

Greetings and salutations! It has been a while since my last album update. Fortunately I have news worth reporting. I have completed recording the instruments and vocals for all ten songs in Entomology. This has been a labor of love as it has taken me around one year to get to this point.

Next up is the editing phase before I start mixing. This is where I’ll organize all of the audio clips and remove near-silent passages, background noises and 60Hz hum that crept in on some of the guitar and vocal tracks.

Following editing I’ll go straight into mixing. This should be a fun stage since I’ll add effects like chorus, reverb, delay and filters to bring dimension to the songs. I’m considering using Waves SSL 4000 for my mixing platform. I hear a lot of good things about the SSL sound and many swear by it as the tool for audio engineering.

Thanks for hanging in there!
