Shake The Disease

by Reggie Barnes on May 8, 2010

Without question Depeche Mode is one of the most influential electronic based groups of our generation. I first learned of their music in the late 80’s. They made their indelible mark on me while at a Parisian Disco in 1989 with my friend Jeff Lipner.  An extended version of Shake The Disease was playing although at the time I wasn’t familiar with the song, or even that it was by DM. The melody stuck in my head because it was unique compared to what I was listening to at the time. Months later and as if by magic, one of my friends was playing his collection of DM cassettes and Shake The Disease leaped out at me. I was instantly transported to that Parisian Disco with the two drink minimum and my good friend Jeff.  Give it a listen and you too can be in Paris!

BTW, that’s a lovely Parisian girl with me – not Jeff 😉

Well that’s no good. It’s a Warner Bros YouTube link for the video. Try this link from the Black Celebration tour in 1986 (which happens to be my favorite album by DM).
